I have the experience you described every single day at the record store I work at. Additionally, we have a check processing machine and I tell people who want to pay with a check that they don’t even have to fill out their check since we process it and give it back right away. Every single time they ignore me and go on filling out every detail of the check, making sure their penmanship is perfect. Then when I give them back their check and ask them to sign for it they act like it’s a huge inconvenience.

I can not begin to explain how angry i get at people when they do this. Although i usually see it most at the grocery store. While there they usually have to argue that the scale is not weighing their bananas correctly and send 4 to 5 bag boys to check prices they insist were different at the shelf.
